The Bangladesh Bank has recently published the official list of public and private bank holidays for 2023. Bangladesh Bank Holiday List 2023 details the dates for all bank holidays in Bangladesh next year.
In total, there will be 24 days of bank holidays for scheduled banks across the country in 2023. The Bangladesh Bank issued a notification outlining the designated bank holidays for the upcoming year.
Of the 24 holidays, 22 days are public holidays as per government directives. The remaining 2 days – July 1st and December 31st – are specified as bank holidays by the Bangladesh Bank. So in effect, scheduled banks in Bangladesh will remain closed for 24 days in 2023 for holidays.
The public holidays are a mix of national days, religious events, and cultural celebrations. National days like Independence Day, Victory Day, and Martyrs’ Day are public holidays when banks remain shut. Major religious festivals like Eid-ul-Fitr, Eid-ul-Adha, Durga Puja, Buddha Purnima also make the holiday list.
